“Avalon / C” was a special commission for Sydney Radio Station FBI’s “Ears Have Ears” Program hosted by Brooke Olsen & Scarlett Di Maio. It was originally broadcast on the 12th of March 2015.
In 2004 i relocated to Brisbane and took up residence in "The Belvedere", a small set of art deco apartments in Fortitude Valley. Now, after 10 years i find myself moving back, directly across the street and into "Avalon", a building with such a rich and colourful history it became the subject of a book published in 2004. Harcourt Street which divides the two properties also serves as the invisible line separating the night life of Fortitude Valley from the more Bohemian nuances of New Farm.
A kind of sequel to the “Sun Tribes” record, “Avalon / C” is presented both as a portrait of one of brisbanes most historic and Iconic buildings and reflective look back across the street at myself 10 years ago and all the hopes and dreams i bought with me to this city.
